Let me weave you a fable ...
The doctor placed his blood pressure gauge and thermometer back in the suitcase. He removed his gloves and checked his watch. Alder was getting some free time soon.
"Alright. You know vere you vant to go, yes?"
Alder nodded his head, excited to leave but disappointed at the same time.
"Remember, you only have vun hour, und it your last time out. Make it count, freund."
Alder put on his clothes. He could only manage his shirt and pants, however. Everything else was too small now, and even what he could wear had grown tight. He would have to ask Lily if she'd found larger clothes.
With his new physique, Alder moved through the city far quicker than any previous times. It was only fifteen minutes before he met Lily at the hideout.
"'Bout time you showed up!" Lily grinned widely as Alder crawled into the hideout. It grew smaller for him every time he came.
"Geez, your even bigger than last time! They know you're gettin' too big to go anywhere right?"
Right. He still hadn't told her that this was his last time he could go out.
"Yeah ... uh, Lily, this is actually the-"
"Hold that thought, big guy. I got some clothes that I think'll fit you."
Lily scuttled to a door and opened it. In the center of the room lay a large pile of clothes. On the side was a dresser filled with clothes that she liked and fit her. On top of the dresser were new clothes for Alder.
"Here, try this shirt. It's warm and should have more room to stretch ... well, if you do get bigger, that is."
"Well, that's the thing, Lily. This is the last time they're letting me out."
Lily had turned around and occupied herself with the clothes. "Why's that?"
"They say their going to be using more hormone and pheromone type mutagens. Some of them might make me a lot angrier and, well ... maybe even meaner."
Lily turned around, snickering a little. "You're mean?"
"You know what I mean! They're just worried I might hurt someone, so ... I can't go out anymore."
"Well, that's no big deal."
Alder was putting the shirt on and popped his head through the collar. "What do you mean? I won't be able to come here anymore!"
"Yeah, but you said nothing about me going there." Lily smiled a wide smile, ear to ear and happy as could be.
"And what if they don't let you in?" Alder pulled down the shirt and tugged it a little. He was surprised she could even find one this big, and if fit quite well.
"Don't worry 'bout it. I know some ways around. Now here, try these pants. It's not the kind of weather to be wearing shorts in, big guy."
