Well, silk is easier to tie: has a nice hand to it (sounds kinky, I know). You;ll have (believe it or not) an easier time finding the sparkly-purple tie than the 'nice' one. I needed a plain, red bow tie for a picture I wanted to make. Macys, Belk, Saks, even the tuxedo rental store didn't have any: they were all dot/stripe-pattern, bizarre colors, etc. Brooks Brothers - freaking BROOKS BROTHERS didn't have any plain, red ties on their site! XD
