A predatory species for my upcoming Wildcard sim Icarus.

Shrishkin are intelligent pack hunting carnivores approximately the same size as a lioness. While lacking the endurance for hours long pursuits they possess devastating speed and agility over short distances and prefer to hunt in a semi-ambush style, with one or two members of the pack driving prey towards where the rest of the pack is lying in wait.

While their teeth and claws are dangerous on their own, the most alarming feature of a shrishkin is their barbed tail. Not only is it a weapon in its own right but it can inject a paralytic venom into captured prey. Smaller prey items are frequently stunned thusly and dragged back to the pack's lair to be consumed at leisure, while larger prey that requires multiple individuals to kill is eaten where it falls.

Local legend claims that shrishkin are the children of the dark god Shigatt, brought into the world to hunt the Icarii. They are the primary reasons humans do not live on the plains; not even a well armed party of humans can drive off an entire shrishkin pack and shrishkin consider humans excellent prey.
