it is indeed a Tau devilfish and just out of shot were another devilfish and a hammerhead gunship. I have faaaaaaaaaaaaaar too many armies.

working on the Titan? about 2 - 3 years... it gets put in its box for a few months after I paint a section, trust me painting something this big is no easy task.

With the releasing of apocalypse and the subsequent amount of tanks and titans that are coming out in my local club I was thinking, wow us Tau really have nothing to fight them but rail guns.. So here they go! VDR to the rescue =3.

2 Twin linked gatling rail guns with sub munitions, 2 twin linked titan killing rail guns no sub munitions, and an Mega ion canon with titan killing lol. 6 Gatling burst canons to give me crowd control with 36 shots, 14 all round armor but 12 on rear, 4 structure points and 4 Tau Field witch are just imperial shield lol. All of the guns are BS 4 too..

How much points does this thing cost? Too freakin many lol, 1410. But 5 titan killing shots (2 twin linked and highest strength an AP possible) just felt right to make this thing lol..

just take a skyray and two hammerheads with rail guns. use the skyray's missiles to drop the shields (only armour 12) then use the hammerhead's to do the physical damage, chances are you'll get a chain reaction on the damage table and get an extra structure point of damage or two. and if you're marking the target and hitting on a 2+ you've got nothing to worry about. Titan killing is easy when you know how.

Bah, this thing killed 3 Bane Blades, I am happy =3. I don't use the Sky Ray personally, and I use broadsides usually lol, now that apoc came out I needed something with.. Ruthlessness hehee.

if you're using the cities of death rules as well the Skyray is one of the best tanks for it. it's not exactly cheap in points but it is worth it.

I usually don't use any tanks but devilfish for Cities of Death cause tanks in it usually find death or have no firing lanes, instead I like to deploy 3 teams of broadsides 1-2 each depending on the points, and have them walking about.
Something weird though is that in cities of death I tend to use deep striking tank hunting crisis suits and stealth suit teams with fast moving Devilfish! So far in city fight I haven't lost a game though, and on normal TT I've won 90% of my matches (127-18 I haven't done the actual math) and 9 of those were when I first started D:. lol if I fought the local imperial guard guy I would been more like 40% wins to losses I've only beaten him once outa our 5 games, and second most lost to is Nids and then orks. Most wins against space marines though.. Mostly cause the Eldar players refuse to fight me anymore D:.

Question though, how is the Sky Ray better?

its better in cities of death, not neccisarily in open combat though. the thing to keep in mind with the Skyray is that in city combat it's role changes from a support tank to a highly mobile sniper tank. once you've marked up your target hitting on a 2+ with a battery of missiles is pretty much going to bugger up anything you hit and giving it the seeker missiles means you can skulk away in to deeper cover and shoot without showing yourself.

Hammerhead's are more static in cities of death, you sit them on a main street (fireing line and just throw submunition shots at anything that dares to show its head.

If you're using the Crisis suit army of doom then if you're upgrading to Apocalypse you'll want the crisis drop formation, it has some nice benefits to it.

Hmm, I kinda stray away from the sky ray cause of its limited ammo and 8-3 weapons.. I dunno I just perfer taking the Ion Canon hehe. 7-3 has just always been doin it for me. But yeah I like how it gives a steady seeker missile mount with one purpose. My Pirhana's feel too targeted when they are sporting seekers lol.

Yeah, I like broadsides more regardless, I never really trust armor lol, though Hammerheads have saved my ass more than once and absorbed more shooting than seems Tau'ely possible! Honestly I had 4 las canons shooting at me from tactical squads of marines and they didn't even stop my hammerhead from moving, one shaken D:. But yeah I use hammerheads against orks all the time, gotta love sub munitions..

I'm not that crisis suit army, I only run about 6 crisis suits, 3 fire warriors teams 4 Stealth Suits, 6 Pathfinders, Pirhana and 2 Broadsides for 1500 points EXACT =3. Basically everyone bonded.

The drop formation eenterests me but so does the devilfish strike force thingy. Usually we play with 2000 points so I have another pirhana and a hammer head there lol.

3000+ point for apocalypse I'm afraid but the idea is that the games are so big that you will have 2 or more players a side as you go over the 6000 point mark.

formations are great, they add a little more to the over all points cost of the army but you get some great abilities.

I used to work for Games Workshop and yes I have a load of armies. I've got about eight Space Marine Chapters, my Slaanesh Chaos Marine/Daemon army,several Tau detatchments (5000 points total with very little heavy weapons :( ) I had 2000 points of Tyranids, I have 2000 points of imperial Guard and thats just my WH40K stuff, I haven't even started on my Fantasy or specialist games stuff (as well as other games company's stuff.

C'mon, somebody had to do it! Impressively massive collection of armor there dude and some killer paint work.

Worth noting to those not familiar with 40k that the big Titan in the back is waaaaaay out of scale. The things are as big as skyscrapers.

acctually the forgeworld titans are pretty much in scale as they should be. Warhound's are about 3 stories in height reavers 6 - 7 stories, Warlords 8 - 12 (depending on the weapon mounts) and finally the Imperator stands in at about 20 - 25 stories

never go by the art as I was told by John Blanche. The artists take alot of liberties to make an impressive scene, it's just artistic licence, don't take what you see as literal.

Nah the Warhounds to make them true scale you just need to add like 2-3 inch's and it's there, you're thinking about Warlord titans and impertator, apparently the imperator has cities for feet heh.. Some of 40k's fluff is retarded..

And they all want a crack at this army. ^_^ I know 11 Crisis suits, 2 hammerheads, 3 devilfish, 60 firewarriors, 18 Stealthsuits and a skyray is nothing compared to this Armoured Division...=P but with an assload of luck and the proper mobile tactics, i might be able to suprise you.

Then again, my tactical brilliance is under specualtion til i can prove otherwise.

Anyways, the Titan is my favorite out of all of this

*smirks* interesting i could pick those all off without looking *laughs* man i play marines alot *giggles* though i may not be able to drop down 10k point s*read in a previous post* I know i have about 6k to 7 k worth of points already. and most people i have played against so far don't like me going past 2k in apoc games :P more so at the local store after my Masters of the Chapter flank marched with a land raider formation of 5 land raiders and proceeded to eat into any squads out in the open one after another.. most of those coming from the unit being charged which made me laugh the most.

i defenetly should post my mororpool , with the adition of my guard tanks , makes for an an imprssive display of armord might.

i have to say some of your modles are rather impressive , i particulaly like your vintage green pread , looks like a centurion.

the green pred was a labor of love before they came out withe the new rhino chassie. it's made up of the body of an old rhino and two sets of the tracks glued back to back then mounted on the hull. the old metal turret got padded out with old imperial guard hunter killer missile boxes and as much stuff I could pile on to it :P

i would love to get a closer look at it. i got a weak spot for vintage modles.

will take a shot next time I head home. it lives away from me these days :(

in the 6 games I've used it in, its racked up an impressive 430+ kills more than half of that was in one game!
