I've been REALLY into Warhammer 40k lately.
even regular Warhammer.
But mostly 40k.
I played the SPEHSS MAREEN game a while back, and that got me into the novels. (since I don't have infinite disposable income to spend on the actual tabletop game)
but it's really fuckin neato, and pretty much got me into reading again.
So I just doodled these little guys up based on each novel I've read thus far.
I don't know if it's worth explaining them all since 40k is such a dense universe.
but I guess, to nutshell them...
Emperor's Children used to be brave and mighty, now they worship a hermaphrodite chaos god and regularly shoot cocaine into their dicks, fuck demon bitches, break spines and ride flaming motorcycles through flaming hoops of fire and more dick tentacles.

Thousand Sons are like mages. not dimensional magic, because that's HERESY BLACK WARP TAINT ABOMINATION, but naturally psychic. They're stoic and don't afraid of anything.
Word Bearers used to be cool, then the emperor of space was like
"HOLY SHIT, YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING RETARDED AND WASTED YOUR LIVES WORSHIPPING ME"
so they got mad and went off to worship demons instead, and now they look like walking scrapyards.
Night Lords are dark, broody, and their big-daddy died and now they're mad all the time and pretty much run around warpspace killing people and taking shit because fuck everyone.
Ultramarines are the best at everything they do because they're ULTRAMARINES and they kick so much ass, they're constantly surrounded by asses they have kicked all over fucking space, all for a half dead god emperor who's stuck on his throne now because he got fucked up a while back.
they also really fucking hate aliens.

Thousand Sons! Gotta love Tzeentch. It's unfortunate that as good as the SPESS MAHRINES! are (Codex Astartes names this maneuver Steel Reign) They are being too favoured in the writings of Matt Ward, being a massive Chaos Space Marine fan myself I'm scared to death of what will happen to the army I've spent so much time on (4-5 years) considering they are to get a codex update soon and will most likely get fluff driven off the worlds by Ultramarines just because Ultramarines. Anyhow, rant over! And a wonderful set of figure drawings, definitely going in the favourites pot!
now, I haven't ever really played or know much about the tabletop game, but I HAVE HEARD a bit of what you're talking about with the codex changes and SPESS MAHRINES getting buffed to hell. I hear they even have their own catgirls or something now. Which I can't really site where I heard it from, but if these changes are as radical as i think, I wouldn't be surprised that a shark has been jumped

now to be fair to the slaaneshi marines, they do have the whole "my gender is determined by the time of my god/ess/DEARGODWAHTISTHAT/(fithe gender words here) pms" thing going on and they use BASS AND ELECTRIC GUITAR GUNS, beacuse lets face it words hurt too and MAKING THEN SUPERSONIC makes it WORSE.
