Art was NOT drawn by me!!! I only paid for it. Artistic credit goes to the listed artist.
A piece I won from Elfwood artist Leigh "Katt" Berggren. I love her fantasy femmes series! This piece depicts my Lord of the Rings fancharacter Faye with a very upset Arwen. The man looking in is Arwen's father, Elrond.
Leigh wrote an amazing explanation:
"Faye is a vampyress whose purpose in Rivendell is to protect young Arwen from a beast of the Dark Lord - a monstrous wolf sent by Sauron to slaughter the Elven princess. Over the years, Faye comes to mean more to her ward than a defender against dark creatures. She becomes a mentor, and a trusted companion as beloved to Arwen as her own mother.
In this scene Faye displays the matronly feelings she has towards Arwen as she comforts the grieving young princess. Although Arwen is several centuries old by the measure of Men, for an Elven princess she is still at far too tender an age for a girl to lose her mother. The Lady Celebrian, a year after a brutal attack by Orcs that left her injured beyond even Elrond's skill to heal, has departed to the West to Valinor, where her people hope she can finally find peace. For the immortal Elves, seeing a family member depart for Valinor is something akin to witnessing their death, and Arwen grieves deeply from the loss. Elrond, her noble Father, looks on from beyond the curtain to her chambers, pained by the distress of his daughter but unable to do anything to assuage her pain, which weighs heavily in his own heart. Arwen will soon seek sanctuary in Lothlorian, and after a time will be recalled to Imladris. Shortly before Arwen's departure from Lothlorian, Faye will leave her ward to return to her own homelands. Arwen is fated to meet Aragorn in Imladris thereby opening a new chapter of her life, and at that point Faye knows her part in the story has, at last, come to an end."
Love it, Leigh!! Always have, always will.
