It looks so bad because I did it in watercolor and pencil. I shouldn't have bothered, since it was printed B&W, but I'm dumb like that. I' love to redo this on the computer some day, make it look better.

I usually don't do paleoart of mammals, just dinos & lizardy type things, so my anatomy here is probably suspect. The details are all speculative, of course. Creodonts don't have any living relatives, so there's no way to know what sort of fleshy/furry details to give them. I figured (correctly, as it turned out) that everyone else illustrating the article would give them hyena coloration because of the name, even though they're not closely related. I wanted to make mine look different. The big ears and big pink noses were inspiried by Virginia Opossums. The pose was based on a photo of fighting pit bulls.
