My completed and installed bone sundial. The piece functions as a sundial, casting a shadow in the 180 degrees around it. Aircraft cable marks out the hours between 6am and 6pm. The piece was on display at a dog park for two weeks until today, I got a pretty good reaction from locals as well as a picture on the front page of the newspaper. It is made out of steel box tube which I cut and welded to the shape I wanted, then I grinded it smooth and put on a clear coat.
I am incredibly satisfied by how this came out and I am glad I chose to do this project. :)
It's primary meaning is to represent a dog bone... But there is a secondary more suggestive meaning. I will let you figure that one out! ;)

It's made out of steel box tube, I am no expert but the markings should be relatively accurate over time, the angle it is at should offset most of the differences caused by the change in the earths rotation.
They may not be exact, but it was only going to be up for 2 weeks so I was not too worried in the specifics.
