Just about as believable as a pony with a magical horn, huge avian wings that actually enable it to fly, and a multicolored mane that constantly flows in the wind even indoors.
Also, the "fox tail" could arguably just be a regular horse tail that is somewhat bushy and has that coloration. Even if not, a fox tail is somehow more plausible to me than Rarity's tail, or even Pinky's tail (horses don't usually have curly hair like that, if I'm not mistaken).

Oh. Well then, you're wasting your time. I don't always completely follow canon. Besides that--and this might just be because I haven't seen EVERY episode--I don't think there are any "rules" that say a pegasus can't have bat-like wings and/or fox-like fur patterns. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but either way I don't care.
