Former DOT #014 was built by the American Locomotive Company, better known as ALCO. This unit was built during the very early 1940s and shipped off to Iran. It came back sometime after the end of WWII.
The US Dept. of Transportation owned this RSC1 for a time, but it has been sitting on MRSR's derelict line for a a decade or two.

Very interesting shot! I've read about these, but I didn't know there were any left. That truck design in particular was key to their success. They hauled freight from the Arabian Sea across Iran to the USSR during the war, and the Soviet Railways copied the design for some of their first production diesels. I wonder, do they have any plans to restore it?
They exited the locomotive business a long time ago, but have been quite profitable manufacturing engines for marine use, stationary power generation and specialty uses! Here is their current website: http://www.fairbanksmorse.com/
