Yes, it does! It helps the hot glue "grab" onto the surface better (if it was just smooth, it would work but it wouldn't be as strong). It's sort of the same idea of people raking the bases of resin claws so they can adhere better to the backing of handpaws. We had a hell of a time trying to rip the fur off of our last head when we had to refur it. xD
