Name : George Gauge
Origin : Dogville
Age : 30
Built : tall and athletic
Occupation : Police Officer
Music : Crooners-like: Barry White, Tom Waits, Michael Bublé, Marvin Gaye and, of course, Céline Dion
Car : A blue SUV
Hobbies : sports, especially hockey
Personality : Obsessive : energetic, emotional, aggressive when under pressure.
Favourite Dish : Gauge family pot-pie
Political orientation: « Yes, I voted for the one that promised to hire more officers. If we have twice as many policemen as we have today, no one would dare to commit any vandalism. And if we have three times more, no one would even think about committing vandalism without being assaulted by an atrocious instinctive fear that would deprive them of their sleep for many years of insidious psychic torment!”
George has been Butch’s best friend since childhood and is now his neighbour. While Butch tries to conceal his (dysfunctional) countryside origins, George is very proud of his rural roots. George’ jock appearance hides a denied homosexuality. He’s a man divided between two impulses: a libertarian tendency, related to his sexuality, and a distrustful and uptight frame of mind, derived from his job as a police officer (or, rather, from the harsh way he fulfils this job). The latter trait is the dominant one, imprisoning him into an obsession with maintaining the order (or, at least, with what he believes ‘order’ is). He’s also the only main character that shows authentic altruism, which is usually manifested in an awkward, unsolicited and physically hurtful way towards whom it is directed at (usually Butch).
