I don't know if you really know why these things happen or not so I'll tell you just in case you or someone else doesn't know.
On older buildings elevators and whatnot were often expensive, so, on barns and factories you'll often see a door on the higher floors. Once the door is open a beam can extend with a pulley, allowing you to lift up pallets or heavy loads of things into or out of your factory.
I've actually observed a similar idea in a restaurant (The water boilers were in a room that had a door above the ceiling tiles.
And in HVAC (heating ventilation air-conditioning) installations where chilliers or air movers were installed from outside of the building essentially forklifted into place through a door way high in the air.
