Death Row...EAA 2012
Here are 4 of the aircraft used in the filming of the 1968 Movie 'Tora Tora Tora'.
Since when they filmed this movie, there were no more actual WW2 Japanese planes left flying, let alone even existing in many cases.ified
So they had to build the attacking Japanese aircraft from existing aircraft. These are heavily modified T-6 Texan trainers to look like Japanese Zero fighters.
Today there are actually 2 original zeros now flying, but not at EAA this year.

Yanno, with the replica warbirds being built these days, and the light sport aircraft out there, you'd think somebody might put a Nate or Oscar back into production. Gods know those ultralight, barely armed Japanese Army fighters weren't much in the way of fighting machines. But they didn't need much engine, supposedly they had great flight characteristics, and sport flying on a lazy Sunday afternoon wouldn't expose their structural frailty the way getting hammered at with four to six Ma Deuces did.
