North American A-36 Apache...EAA 2012
This is a VERY VERY rare aircraft. This is the North American A-36 Apache ground attack warbird. It looks like a P-51C til you see the 2 nose mounted .50 caliber guns and wing dive brakes. Of 500 built in WW2, most served in Italy and North Africa. Of those 500, only 3 survive. One is at Wright Patterson Museum, one in flying condition in Texas and this aircraft with the Heritage Foundation.
I was especially thrilled to see this warbird at EAA, mainly for its rarity.
