Belly of the Beast
FiFi, the worlds only flying B-29 Superfortress made her appearance at EAA this year again. And she was airborne when I stepped out of a pavilion just in time to snap this quick shot as she flew overhead.

I got to see FiFi once when she made a stop over in Peoria with a B-24 they were flying with, ohhh...has to be about 10 years ago by now. Saw the -24 fly over my house and ran inside all excited to tell my Dad and he was like " You're full of shit." Then my Grandpa called and was like " You guys see the B-24?" Hahah.
Remember, after the war, so many people were already sick of it, and so many machines were built. Nobody ever takes in consideration on saving some examples for future generations. After WW2, huge amounts of enemy equipment was put on display for years for the general public to view. By 1948, most was scrapped. Some stuff survived into the 50s and some jackass decides that its no longer of importance and ordered scraped.
The biggest thing I love about living in my town is the collection of WWII aircraft that are kept at our airport. Not a weekend goes by where my house isn't buzzed by a P-51D or a flight of AT-6 Texans. Once in a while there will be a Corsair or B-25 visiting.
