hopeful_monster_studios is holding a contest that's close to wrapping up at this point. One of the entry choices is drawn work of your favourite wyrm or your own wyrm or even one you'd like to see. Which leads me to this.At one point they had a journal asking for suggestions on, among other things, possible wyrm types, so I suggested House Wyrms, which got me thinking. And thus I drew up these four little guys. ^^
Each one is inspired by a different kind of folkloric creature that could be found in the home. Here's the list:
1) Brownie Wyrm: They're apparently small, hairy and very friendly types, so I made this one extra fluffy and gave it a big grin. It's has a shorter face because of a thing I read describing brownie faces as flat. On an image search I saw one drawn with buck teeth and couldn't resist.
2) Kobold Wyrm: Kobolds in folklore don't actually look like small crocodile goblins. They are described in a lot of cases as looking like old men, which is why this guy not only has a moustache and shaggy eyebrows, but also looks like it's napping. Another image search resulted in a kobold with red hair, so this guy gets read hair too!
3) Bogey Wyrm: This one is inspired by bogeymen. I thought since they like to lurk in dark, dusty corners, it could have glow-in-the-dark eyes and horns. I see these guys resembling dustbunnies too, so they wouldn't necessarily be this dark, I just like the colour combination.
4) Gremlin Wyrm: Possibly my favourite out of the four. This would be a tiny little trouble-making type, really mischievous. The black blobs on its face are supposed to resemble oil stains, largely because gremlins first seemed to come about in relation to airplane mechanical problems. The little spikes on its face were inspired by the movie Gremlins and the way their little monsters look.
