Poor old Grape. Not even by moving to the real world can she finish her naps without Peanut waking her up
This is how I imagine
RickGriffin's characters would look like in the real world. The original linework was done in pencil. Shading was achieved using Jeremy Vickery's technique, which consists of starting with a completely black canvas and adding just the light that reaches the objects in the picture. The technique requires the artist to consider light sources, reflections, occlusions, and the three-dimensionality of the objects. (That is, you never draw an actual shadow; rather, the direction of the light, and what stops it from reaching what, leaves the shadow in what you don't add.) This is the result it gave me after about two months (mind you, I had less than an hour per week to work on this).
This picture was inspired by the Housepets Babies! story arc.
