I'm very excited to be able to reveal to you the first image produced for Kyell Gold's new novella, Winter Games! This will be found on the cover image for the book (but won't be the whole image). I was thrilled to bits when he asked me if I'd be willing to do the illustrations for the book, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it too - in fact I found it very hard to put down :3 I'm also doing several black and white shaded illustrations to go inside the book.
You can find out more about Winter Games here! There will be a release party for it at Rainfurrest - more info on that is in the link too - so keep an eye out for it there! Sadly I won't be able to attend myself this year, but you can still take home some of my artwork this way ;3

Aww Thanks! I really tried to push myself with this one and spent a long time working on each section till I was happy with it. I'd like to offer up commissions in this realistic-painterly style - probably to replace the current "detailed color" ones that are like this but with outlines, which just serve to take away from the realism at this point. I need to practice it a bit more first though.
You're quite welcome!
Congratulations on the book deal, as well. That can be no less than a point of beaming pride for you - and one well deserved, by any measure.
As to commissions...
That is a bit of a different matter for me, at least for the time being.
I just struck a deal with my employer though that will hopefully see me with more disposable income in the near future. When that occurs, you'll be at the top of my list when I decide I want another commission.
Congratulations to you, Ermine. And once again, a very lovely picture.

Just want to say again how much I really love this cover and the work you're doing in general. You really captured the spirit of the characters and your illustrations actually enhance the story rather than just being images from it, if that makes sense. :) This is really beautiful and I can't wait to see the finished book!
Me too! I'm so glad you like what I've been doing for you, not only is it an honor to work for you but it's been really fun too :) I love portraying characters in full - their personalities, not just their appearance - so working from a story like this was a great chance to do that, especially as you created such interesting, believable characters in the first place ^_^
Dude, your style is getting super, super refined. We don't always get to see just how good it is because you don't often get commissioned to get full, highly detailed work like this, but wow. When I first saw this picture and I read in the description that it was a cover for one of Kyell's books, I assumed that it was one of Blotch's submissions. I had to double check to convince myself that it was you that had submitted this. I'm simply amazed by the detail, particularly in the fur (on the characters AND their hoods).
Goodness, thank you! I'd been wanting to go really gung-ho on a digital painting for some time, but like you said I don't get commissioned for them very often (they cost a lot after all!) and though I'd started a few ideas of my own I'd always end up getting caught up in commissions again and not finishing them (ermines gotta eat D:). This was the perfect opportunity to put everything I had into a piece and see what happened :3 I'm hoping to practice it a little more and get a bit quicker so I can offer up this kind of detailed style in place of my current highest commission category.
