It's so hard to use words like that and have them taken in the proper context.
This is a Raccoon wall ornament. It is composed of a skull, neck vertebrae, and partial hide of a raccoon. The 3 feathers on the skull and hanging with the stone signify the earth, air, and water, by which the raccoon can travel (Of course, they cannot fly, however they are just as comfortable on the ground as in the trees.
The vertebrae is tied onto the hide using some leather lace, and a strip of leather, There are also various bone, wooden, and clay beads. This was meant to truth to one's mind, and to identify treachery in our social lives. It is made to banish trickery others may bring, by keeping us one step ahead of our deceivers.
I made this for my friend, he supplied the skull and asked that I make something cool out of it.

It's hard to find words to describe these things, I like talisman, but people expect them to be magic
I like Fetish, only people think sexual fetish. Totem is nice, but more for a soul, than an item... bleh whatever... Words are just words
Thanks! I want to make another one with a larger skull and screw hinges in it so it can be positioned.

this is really awesome :D i love it :3 lol you and your bone magic :D i cant get over it :D
lol i really need to learn how to make charms like this :) i definantly have plenty of materials
for it
speaking of these wonderful bones. i came across a(n) opossum skeleton at my boyfriends
house and attempted to salvage most of what's left, so i'll be adding those to the list of stuff
to send you. there's also a cat that got hit by a car down the street. i think i'm going to try to
reconstruct that one though. he's pretty much a whole specimen.. i feel bad though
he might have been someones pet, but then again, we have alot of feral cats down by
the river..

Cats are the hardest for me to work with for the same reason.... Actually... I hold cats very close to me. Tezcatlipoca would often take the form of a jaguar, all cats are his kin. They are perfectly adapted creatures and highly intelligent. If I see cats on the road I always move them out of the way. I don't believe they should be desecrated after death by getting smashed to nothing. They have warriors spirit and deserve honor. I'd work with cats more, but I am to heavy hearted for their departure....
i know. it really upsets me to see any feline or canine meet such a death.. it's even worst that the poor thing is just laying there in the ditch too. if he belonged to someone, i put shame on his owners. they shouldn't have let him out :(.. if anything, i might bury him out under a tree somewhere. i just dont want to leave him there out of fear that some drunk might run off the road into the ditch and have the poor guy get hit another time.. that tends to happen alot at that corner, and i think that might be how he met his demise..
and i totally understand and respect your hesitance on working with certain animals.. i try to respect every specimen that i find and i hold their remains dear as if they were still alive. if an animal is already
buried i wont touch it either. *my respect for the dead, human and animal is pretty strange. i wont let my feet come near enough to walk over their bodies beneath the ground because i find it disrespectful, yet i still collect some bones.. idk i sometimes think i'm a little warped..*

We all contradict ourselves, I say when people eat shouldn't play favorites (like if you eat cow, why is snake off limits? ) That all animals are equal, but then I say I don't want to "defile" a cat body. Yet I'll work with others. Bones/hides aren't trophies of the kill, they're a monument to the spirit. It isn't destroyed, it's re-purposed.
:>
And comfort zones are all relative to our own ideas and morals. I recently attempted skinning a skunk... but I don't personally consume flesh... we all contradict ourselves.

lol true true very true. meh, i at least want to keep close to the native's way of not wasting anything, and respecting the animal as a brother/sister. i'm wayyy~ gentle with the skulls that i do have, even the deer skulls which could take a fall off of my desk and still be fine, i always warn people when they touch or pick them up to treat them like they were glass haha.
as for the comfort zone thing, i'm just like how you said XD i am true to the human nature of "omnivore"
but if someone placed a feline, canine, or horse in front of me, i wouldnt be able to eat it unless my life
depended on it.
oh contradictions contradictions
