This is a masky, head type thing I'm making for Witching-hour-wolf, my pretty wolf girl. This is made almost entirely of paper mache and cardboard, built up over a plastic craft mask base. This is the first head of any kind I've ever made, which seems painfully obvious to me right now. More photos as things get done.

Looks really cool. We did some masks like this for a forest scene in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight when I was in college, but this already looks better than anything we did . . . we had a rough time getting the ears to work, but extending the head back like that gives it more balance :) Afraid I'm no help on the jaw either, since that got skipped on ours for the sake of vocal projection :(
to make the jaw hingable, paper mache to the red line I marked on this pic. the green dot is where the hinge will go. Repeat to both sides. when you get that done, you will need to start on the lower jaw (seperately) and make sure that it will be long enough to reach the same hinge holes. The center of your ear is a fairly good hinge point, since it's pretty much where everyones jaw hinges.
i've sorta dotted a line on the pic for the lower jaw. in this pic here.
