As London prepares to host the 2012 Olympics, I am reminded that the previous games were held in Vancouver just two years ago. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games were one of the most important events in the history of my region. But I could not have foreseen how great an impact they would create on the course my line. By their own merits, the games would have been incredible. But in the middle of those two glorious weeks in February 2010, I had my first encounter with the local Furry Community.
It is my sincerest hope that the Furries of London will do their part to be seen at their 2012 Olympic Summer Olympics. In Vancouver, local fursuiters made several appearances on the downtown streets, and they were positively besieged at every one of them. Who knows, people might think that YOU are the Olympic mascots!
This photograph of the cauldron was taken in Jack Poole Plaza late in the afternoon of February 19, 2010. I had just come from waiting in line at the Coca Cola Pavilion for two hours to snag thirty seconds with their Polar Bear mascot. At the time, I had the same expression on my face as when Lucille Ball discovered that she was pregnant on I Love Lucy. One week later, I would walk into “The Miracle on Robson Street” and my life would be changed forever.

That truly is a beautiful picture of the Olympic cauldron. Brings back a lot of memories of me watching the 2010 Vancouver Games on TV. I was even lucky enough to see first-hand the torch being run down Harwood Ave of my hometown – truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
What are some of the highlights you remember? I like to know.
