Figured I'd share this here as well.
This thought crossed my mind while daydreaming as I was working on hatchlings, and 20 minutes later, this comic existed. A majority of folks address their car/ motorcycle, etc, as "her". Well, ...not me.
Yes, that is one of the actual bikes I'll be looking at soon (hopefully).

A thing of beauty~ and right you are that you address this bike as "him". Such beastly power, ohhh~ <3
See I normally don't comment on things but... I would recognize him anywhere! Why? 'Cause I have one <3

About a year. The only complaint is that if you ride at a slower speed (say, less than 80-90km/h), the 2007/08 models will give you a back pain.
It might just be because I'm a tad smaller than most people - but really... it is not the most comfy bike there is. In fact, most people who own the 07/08 complain about just this one thing - the comfort. Hence I have two bikes; this one for crazy fun and a second, comfy bike for cruising ;)
If you just want to ride around, take corners aggressively etc but be back home within an hour or two, this is the right bike. But it's definitely NOT for, well, trips etc. Apparently the newest, completely redesigned models (2011-12) are much more comfortable.
But if you ride fast enough, the wind that gets in between you and the tank is going to lift you up ever-so-slightly, so that most of your weight is not on your arms and back, thus mitigating the pain.
That's it for the complaint(s). As far as the handling goes... really, I can lean so much on it that my boots get scratched from time to time (I have them slightly over the edge of the footpeg as I prefer it to be my boot than the peg as the peg could cause an accident).
It's incredibly agile even though it looks big and feels heavy. It only does when it's not moving; but when you do ride it, it's the best thing everrrrrrrr. It listens to everything you tell it. You don't need to do any throttle blipping when you downshift - it has a back-torque limiter so you can simply downshift and let the bike handle everything else. It gives you a real edge over the older models which don't have a slipper clutch and would probably ditch the rider if he did what I do before entering corners. It also has super-sensitive (in a good way), epic front-wheel brakes; I usually need just two fingers to brake properly, leaving me in a better control of the throttle.
The 07/08 bikes do not have a steering damper, and I have not yet gotten one - the bike did try to go into a tank slapper a few times (uneven surface - bumpy road) but somehow it never _really_ did. It just calmed itself down... but it might be worth the investment.
The reason I got the 07 zx6r is simple though. It's the only year they made it in pearl wildfire orange, and also the only year it came with the central, under-seat exhaust. I love both features and really, even if my back hurts after riding, I'm still happy about it! :D
Anything else you'd like to know? :)

Thank you so very much! That was really helpful; R6 is my top choice, but I planned to settle with a zx6r if a great deal came along. And I knew a bit more about the r6 than the zx6r concerning first hand experiences from others. I'll be using it for daily commuting, and I tend to ride fairly fast I think some would say.
Aha! Well...
I actually used the bike as a commuter's vehicle as well! 80km to school and back (basically back home on Fridays and to school on Mondays).
You'll be pleased to know that if you kick the 6th gear in, you can do 6000-7000rpm (really that is NOTHING, the bike feels most powerful and 'ready to go' around 11/12 thousand with redline from 16500 and up) and ride along at 140km/h. When the engine does 6-7k, it actually becomes "kinda" efficient. Yeah it is a four cylinder engine and it is a revvy, racing one too - but if you keep it in 6th gear on a highway, you can actually go pretty far. I mean, the fuel consumption at that point is hovering around 6-6.5L / 100km. As opposed to 8-9L/100 if you really thrash it, hehe. Oh, even in 6th gear, it still has enough power to overtake slower cars, so really, I found this way of commuting to be most comfortable while not costing a fortune. And I could go for wild rides during the weekends too.
The ZX6R 07-08 has fuel injection (as do all the models after it) so that also helps the fuel consumption a lot.
But! If you intend to ride in a city, you might find other bikes to be a better choice. I've pretty much sat on these-> ZX-6R, R6, CBR 600, SV Bandit (though god that thing is heavy) and a CB 600 F hornet... and honestly, outta all of them... the ZX-6R is by far the most exciting and least comfortable :D Hornet proved to be the best mix of both. Very revvy, powerful engine but amazing comfort... it really is a perfect bike all around; I only got rid of it because I got a super deal on the love of my life - the ZX-6R with a trade-in for my hornet.
If you just want to commute and have fun, I suggest the hornet.
If you mainly want to have fun and do an occasional track day, go for the ZX6R (it is a thing of beauty).
You could also try getting your paws on a different model than the 07-08. Pretty much all of the models before and after are more comfortable, especially the 2011-12 (it's really expensive too though :x). Also well I guess I don't recommend the older models, they lack slipper clutch and generally are less advanced and not worth it, if you are buying a bike.

Unfortunately, I'm slightly shallow when it comes to bikes. I love my eye-candy more than 100% comfort. And I look at overall engine/performance over eye-candy: like I LOVE aprillas, but wouldn't have it as a commuter. As long as I have decent comfort, I'm good.
The CB 600 does look nice,... for a street fighter. But I don't want a honda: Though I hear their bikes are great engine wise. Everyone has a honda it seems (a cbr anyway), and as I mentioned, I'm kinda shallow, and one of those types who don't like having what the majority has. At this point in my life, I love me the sportbikes. And right now, my love is with the 06' and up R6, and zx6rs.
Your insights are very appreciated though.
I'm searching used bikes only, from owners and not dealers. I'll get a brand new bike from a dealer for my fourth or third bike, but this will only be my second.

I know what you mean. After all :D I am THE SAME LOL x3 hehehe. I had a great, comfy all-round bike and I gave it up for eye-candy superbike!
AND I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY, MUHAhAAaa...
"If you love one specific model, there's nothing anyone can say to make you change your mind. No fuel consumption, comfort or anything else can do that, because you will get the bike you want" -- me :p
Why?
Because no matter how anyone rationalizes bikes...
They were, are and will be primarily used for fun and pleasure of the rider ^_^
That feeling when I'm on my ninja... it feels like when I twist the throttle, I move the earth underneath me, rather than speeding forward~
Get the 07 ZX-6R, you will never regret it, even if your back starts hurting from riding slowly in villages, even if it noms a lot of fuel, even if whatever. You will love the bike forever and ever~
(The ZX-6R is my second bike as well, first being the hornet!)
It's a cool bike. Damn cool. For me, it is the coolest one. My third bike is the CBF 500 (but I keep both the CBF 500 and the ZX-6R - the ninja for crazy stuff, the cbf for cruising). My fourth bike will be the ZX-10R... but that one will be a new bike. All of the current ones (hornet, ninja, cbf 500) have been bought from previous owners - but I really feel like a ZX-10 should be something I want to pamper and "raise" all by myself~

Hehe. The "second" bike is usually the best, because rider feels comfortable with bikes at that point, and he/she also enjoys the new power (second bike is usually more powerful =P). The ninja is my second bike as well, first being Honda Hornet CB 600F~
I think the FZ6 is a really nice looking bike... basically in the 600cc category, it's hard to go wrong :3 They all look wonderful and go very fast ^_^ hehe~

Aha! So a "good deal" did not come along, huh? ^_^ Well, as I stated somewhere above, I'm sure that you will have a lot of fun with your bike. DEFINITELY get on a track though, once you've gotten comfortable with it!
My god it was so much fun :D I hope to do it again soon. (Though, I am gonna need new tyres... LOL :P going 110 through turns and 230 on straights, then braking to 100 again and accelerating back within seconds - the tyres were not happy :D but they did stick to the ground like glued, not a single slide)

I actually have a funny story similar to that. I'm part of a geeky game group, and one of our group members only has a few names that he uses for characters. One name is Hustler Bojenkins, who is always a guy and always awesome. My best friend who is also in the group got a new car recently, and she named it Hustler Bojenkins because the car she got is the one the guy always wanted, and even got a plate to match. It's awesome.
My vehicles are always men too, which my family always used to mock me for.
If the idea though, is that by giving your car a gender, you're loving it as much as a person/have some kind of relationship with it, I never really understood why they would want their presumably straight daughter/sister to be in love with another female.
