Whiplash just shortly after joining the Stellor Warriors and getting a Medical Check up has just heard the news she has about two weeks to live due to having a neurological disorders native to her species (though not as common anymore especially as someone as young as her). Its in the last stages she is told which probably explanes some of the physical ticks and narcolepsy shes been having (though shes been trying to hid them from the others but when you have psychics you can't hide much).
Whiplash tries to hide her despair but is told not to worry since the Fleet's medical tech is far more advanced then what her world has to offer. She'll be ok in a few days.
Some how she doesn't seem as relived as the Medical staff would have hoped...

well theirs another resion... Some one she knows.. some one she spent time with Died of the same disorder just before she joined the Stellor Warriors.
Whiplash who isn't verytrusting, was informed about the Fleet and that the could help but didn't think about them as an option untill it was after that person
she knew died. So after finding out that she had it, and was so close to death herself, and fixed up so esaly she fells bad that if she only joined sooner...
maybe her only friend would be still around.

Intriguing that you should mention the use of what amounts to stem cell therapy, coupled with drugs. Nonetheless, the problem with it is passing the blood-brain barrier, which logically would be a difficulty. Making that permeable brings about a whole boatload of potential short- and long-term complications, especially at the immunological level. Nonetheless, interesting stuff. I am wondering exactly what tech level the fleet possesses, and whether it extends to full-body rebuilds/regeneration, and/or what amounts to "immortality insurance", the ability to do a download and uploading into a new cloned body.
As well, you mention Whiplash's native world is lower tech than the fleet. What is their base tech level? Highest technological achievements? I'm interested in where she comes from to a fair degree.
As always, expect more questions from me bit by bit as time goes on, dear heart.

The fleet's bio tech level is beyond Whiplash's peoples tech and thus way beyond ours (since this takes place in 1998). And yep they have Full body rebuild/cloneing. Brain Transplant into a cloned body. Prosthetic Bodies (Full cyborg body like Battle Angel or Ghost in the SHell) and they are just getting into the ablity to have mental patern copy/download's with limited success.
Whiplash's world can do Light and FTL Jumps, but other than that they are about 50 years more advance than us (low level cloaks for their military and spies, cyber implants,) Stuff you see in Metal Gear Solid games, but they've been that way for 500 years, so they've stagnated for the last 500 years.

Brain transplant?! What a poor way to handle such a thing. One would think instead they would perform something akin to a destructive neural trawl, followed by using the clone's neural tissue as a re-encoding media, essentially writing the blank neural substrate with the new information. Such a method almost completely removes the risk of both surgery and the attendant risks involved with rejection, postoperative infection, and the like. Transplants, though, run significant risks, not the least of which is the risk of a disconnection in one of the major sections of the spine. Just as importantly, bear in mind that the spine also has a significance when it comes to our (and indeed most vertebrates) handling of our bodies. There have been a fair few experiments showing that the spine has a number of our learned responses stored at some level therein. This thus becomes of import when considering such a thing as a re-encoding or a transplant of some sort.

not sure if I responded to you directly or accidently to my self so just incease here it is again.
The Fleet its self doesn't yet have the ablity to do that, well.. Not Fully. If I said more that may or may give some plot points away. Like I said "they are just getting into the ablity to have mental patern copy/download's with limited success." Though they also have concerns about this due to enemies of slightly lower to equal tech level cloning up
key members of the fleet and other related governments to brows through memories for information.
Oh not a problem at all. I'm just glad some one is responding to my art. I get likes and views, but few responses.

*nods* Always willing to engage in discussion. If you ever want to (as I don't care about spoilers, as I enjoy seeing and reading through things with a visual aspect, regardless of knowing the plot), feel free to toss PMs my way about some of this. I'll always be up to give you my critique, and especially WHY I have given that opinion. It never hurts to have outside tech perspectives (though plot perspectives, I've learned from years of running dice and paper RPGs, are best left to the Gm/writer).
And yeah, you accidentally replied to yourself, first. ^_^ It happens!
