The pay from
rudikazootie is just completed! Former Mirage F-1C XD Still needs the iraqi serials, must check the more appropiate considerating their combat history.
Is completed!! i ALWAYS liked this one, i even have some drawed in my gallery as [link] ! =3
Was used several times trying to ambush the Iranian F-14s (but usually the Tomcats kicked their butt with the AIM-54 Phoenix since hundreds of kms XD) and to launch dozens or even hundreds or Exocet Missiles against Iranian tanker ships and smaller naval targets. For its moment was a very advanced plane, still today is a pretty decent plane. And some of them are in Iran hands after escape in the first USA-Iraq war.
Mirage F1EQ : Export version of the Mirage F1E for Iraq. 16 built.
Mirage F1EQ-2 : Single-seat air defence fighter version for Iraq. 16 built.
Mirage F1EQ-4 : Single-seat multi-role fighter, ground-attack, reconnaissance version for Iraq. 28 built.
Mirage F1EQ-5 : Single-seat anti-shipping version for Iraq. 20 built.
Mirage F1EQ-6 : Single-seat anti-shipping version for Iraq. 30 built.
The Matra Super 530 missiles are from a Mirage 2000. And the underwings fuel tanks of the F-1 will be for my mirage 2000, that will be built JUST when our air force have them someday ( 2200 ac )
" ... * In the meantime, Iraqi Mirage F1EQs were keeping very busy fighting the Iranians during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s, with the F1EQs claiming destruction of at least 35 Iranian aircraft, mostly McDonnell F-4 Phantoms and Northrop F-5E Tiger IIs, but also one Grumman F-14 Tomcat, shot down on 22 November 1982. Seven F1EQs were lost in combat, and a number were flown back to France in Iraqi Ilyushin Il-76 transports for repair of extensive battle damage.
In addition, Iraqi F1EQs performed ground attacks on Iranian forces, and launched large numbers of Exocet missiles at tankers steaming in the Persian Gulf. The Exocet proved somewhat disappointing; it was accurate, but lacked the hitting power needed to sink a large tanker, and the maritime "kills" were of small vessels. It could still do quite a bit of damage: on 17 May 1987, in a case of mistaken identity, Iraqi Mirage F1EQs hit the US Navy frigate STARK with two Exocets, killing 37 American sailors. The Iraqis quickly apologized for the action. "
