On Life, Death, and Getting Married (Important announcement)
Several important things have come together for this decision. You might notice that there seems to be a different yet familiar horse on the cover above; it's a prototype cover whipped up by Arrin after I mentioned what was going on. You know how sometimes people respond to life situations by changing something radically, IE, a hairstyle right?
Well, my cover for Best Of alluded to this (using a white plushie, as opposed to my normal black / white one ) but I have threefold reason for this; I'm bleaching my black hide to white.
First off, this is a mutual decision between Equus and myself; personally I find white stallions to be totally hot, so why not be a nice stud for my fiance? Also, I'm most assuredly the bride in the relationship; With this not only will we be black horse and white horse, but groom and bride. I'm very happy Equus thought this was a good idea.
Second off, my mother's final memorial was today; her ashes have been stored according to her wishes. With this, I put everything involved with her death behind me, leaving memories of the strong woman she was and not the frail thing I saw last month. Numerous people have associated my music with the color white; that my very being is filled with light and soul when I play. This reflects that.
Lastly, I choose to take back my own life. She has been released now, and she no longer suffers; I accept that I have lost my mother but I declare that the second chance she gave me will not go unwasted. I no longer will have to hold down a job simply to make ends meet; With or without my income, we will proceed to get the rest of the way out of our debts. This leaves me free to pursue music once again, perhaps even performing at conventions, trying to help people with my talent. This simple act of decoloring myself not only aligns me more with Zeryx, but Equus as well.
Perhaps it is a small thing, changing a hair style (or in a furs case, a hide coloration), but for me it is a beginning; the best beginning to dedicate myself to my husband to be, and to honor my mother and move on as I know she wants me to.
More art will be forthcoming, if I can find anyone willing to draw a reference or a badge; but essentially what was black is now white (feathering staying white, and black mane and tail will have highlights in them in some fashion, but remain partially black.) All other colors are of course, staying the same. Don't really want to wear color changing contact lenses, heh!
Thanks again to
starringer for kicking us off with this unexpected help.

whitechoco shire? ]:8. *gives a lick* ]:89~
I can see this also as a form of cleansing, this bleaching of your fur rather symbolically puts behind you so much that has caused you pain yet serves as a reminder of just how far you've come and grown with the future still ahead of you.
I wish you and Equus the best always <3 Course, it'll have to get used to not imagining a lovely black shire when I think of you, I still call a sheep a horse and a horse a sheep sometimes ];8P

A little poem I wrote for the two of you
In light does the sun glow, the gentle warmth we shall forever know
In darknes do the stars rise, the gentle moons glow bring beauty that life defies
For in light & darkness does this world, forever friends in years untold
Black & white to you two share, forever held in each others care
Best wishes to Equus & yourself, I hope you find much happines in the future

You say 'decoloring' which is true from the reflective perspective of subtractive light but, as a former stage lighting technician I can say another way to look at it is the additive perspective in which white light contains all possible colors. Your new white hide is not colorless but is now reflecting all colors to those around you.
