This is Meiyou, a blue mage hume turned tengu, another character from the on-going rp between myself and Cit.
Meiyou has been a character that I did have in FFTA when I played it, so I decided to have him in as a minor character when we first started up the rp, but he slowly became a major character, usually staying with Maylia, a hume mage in the rp. Meiyou is sort of a comic character since every bizarre thing seems to happen to him.
In his hume design I wanted to keep the general blue mage look, but modify it a bit, so he has more of a western look, his hat is suppose to be more of a tricorn design (think colonial US time period).
So why is he a tengu? During the events of the rp (which had moved to a more Japanese-influence because of the Samurai Warriors influence), Meiyou had met several other tengus; spirits thats served Teeka and Teur, two bangaa characters that belong to Cit. The tengus liked him so much that they actually made him one, without him realizing it at first. So, now as a tengu is dresses in the Japanese tradition, but keeps his iconic blue mage hat.
Even though Meiyou tends to be more comical, he's still a character I like, just one that is still happy and easy-going despite everything he's been through.
The designs for both his forms were fun to do, but the colors took me a while to get right, I had to make sure to get different shades of blue to use for his whole look. But, in the end, I'm happy with the overall results.
The arcane markings on his robes were done using the arcane brush from Obsidian Dawn.
Photoshop 7 and CS3.
