Whenever I got poison ivy (and I'm mildly allergic) I'd do the calamine lotion thing. But then I'd also do an epsom salts bath. I dunno why it worked, but I guess the magnesium salts and water get into the skin and neutralize the plant poison (which is basic in pH, the salt solution is slightly acidic). I usually soaked until my skin was wrinkly, so I know it has soaked in.
Also, I'm not sure when the next time you're going to a beach is, but ocean water does the same thing, often better, cause of the high salinity and the fact you can swim/soak in it.
