Ryusei Lupi commission - AFter battle
This commission was requested by
ryusei-lupi. He wanted a scene that depicted his 3 chars and
holodrom's char resting just after finishing a battle. I liked his idea of adding the cherry trees, because those give a peaceful escence to the pic n__n. I still have a lot of work to get my bgs to look better, but for now I did my best and I hope you all like the picThis is an example of my full digital color

Okay. The cherry tree is very nice and yes he really adds a peaceful tune to the scenery. The Battlewounds are nice too And since it more battlescratches I would say this four are very good fighters.
so far so good. Now its time for nitpicking (I'm reenactor so please forgive me): Non of them is propally dressed for battle.. that isn't armor that are cosplay costumes. One arrow and BÄNG! everything is over. I know some people like sexy warriors who wear close to nothing but even those guys should know that you can't go into battle dressed like his. And...have they talked there enemys to death? Cause I see no blood on there weapons.
So..with this of my chest i sum up. Nice atmosphere, cute characters and all in all nice artwork but with some minor flaws which I have mentioned above.

Jejeje I know that they are not properly dressed for battle, and that they really would be killed with those armors =P but well, what the costumer asks is what I give, so I really didnt have that much of a choice jejejejeje. And yeah, you're right, I didnt place any blood or scratches on the weapons 9.9, my mistake on that, but as Im not that used to do battle pics I tend to forget that kind of details ^^u
Thanks a lot for such constructive critic, I really appreciate it n__n

As far as blood on the weapons goes, any warrior worth his salt would clean off his weapons right away once the fight was over. None of these four looks badly wounded, so I'd presume they've done that before resting, as they should.
On another note... the background is pretty basic, but certainly not bad. I do see one potential issue with it: the limb the monkey is sitting on looks broad and flat, almost like a bench, where it's near the trunk, and only "rounds out" further away. It's also almost perfectly horizontal and straight (if tapering). While it isn't impossible for a tree's branch to grow in this way, it does look a bit artificial. Most branches tend to be roundish and (if they're of any real length) to bend at least a little.
The characters, though, are excellently done. They're pretty detailed, considering the scale of the piece. The armor may not be realistic, but it's definitely genre-appropriate, and since it was what the commissioner wanted, no problems there.
That monkey with that staff kind of reminds me of the League of Legends character Wukong. I'm guessing they were both inspired by the Monkey King story.

Ohh really?? as Im not very informed in the warrior way of caring for weapons, I didnt know the cleaned them =P its a good note to know, thanks!
And yes, I know my bg is not my best work ever ^^uuu I had lots of troubles with the tree, specially the branch were the moneky is sitting, I know all the tree looks artificial, but I honestly couldnt make that branch look better considering the size of the chars, and the weight it was supposed to endure with one male sitting on it. You have a point in the fact that the branches bend under weight,so I will keep that in mind the next time I draw a char over one of them =P
Im glad you liked how I drew the chars, indeed the armor is not realistic, but yes, the owner wanted fantasy type armory, so I was happy to give him what he wanted =P annnnndd yep, the monkey is based directly on Wukong's design, the commissioner wanted a char based on that Monkey King, so that is why its so similar in escence =P
Thanks for the critic on the pic, I appreciate your point of view n___n

Yes, blood will corrode steel if it's allowed to stay on for very long. It should be cleaned off within 15 minutes. This is one reason surgical instruments are cleaned so quickly -- it's not just a sanitation issue, but the blood could actually destroy the instrument's usefulness if it were allowed to stay on the steel.
Right, I realize you mentioned that your backgrounds needed work. I just wanted to point out something to consider next time you handle a picture such as this. You're pretty skilled, I have no doubt you'll improve. ^_^
Glad to know I wasn't entirely wrong about the monkey. My mind's been playing tricks on me today; I've misinterpreted at least two or three pics. :p

OOhhhh you really have a point on the blood corroding the metal 9.9 very corrosive thing it is.
Yes, I really thank you for pointing out what looks odd on my bg n__n Im still trying really hard with them because its what takes me more time an effort, and sometimes I honestly hate BGs XDDDDD. Thanks for the ocmpliment on myself n//n I appreciate your kind words.
And Im sorry to hear the misinterpretations, =P it happens sometimes jejejeje, but no, you were right this time n__n

Yes I do have a concern about it. A well trained archer hits a target over a distances of about 150m with a fire rate of 12 arrows per minute. Take three or four of this archers and your group will end up as a bunch of pincushions. Also..This armor is complete madness in close combat. one second of not paying attention..a lil mistake and your char finds cold steel burried in his body. To sum it up.. your group would die in a real battle. Sorry for you but thats how it is.
*sighs* I see...the logic in your world died a long time ago.... let me just say that I get the feeling its more cause of luck then talent that your group is still alive. if i look at their wounds..if their enemy would have thrusted instead of slashing all three of the mammals would be dead by now cause of mutal wounds in the chest and stomach area.
well i do have a few questions at that; you say they use magic, so if their magic is what protects them the most so they won't have to engage in much close combat then where do the gashes come from wouldn't they not have that problem so they wouldn't have received the gashes and cuts in the first place unless they took direct contact with a blade or an arrow soooo no matter how hard i look at it they would be dead either way due to the lack of the armor and if they were hit directly as the cuts and gashes lead to make the viewers assume
the cuts im specifically looking at when i say this are: the gash on the left cheek of the brown fox, the stab wound on the left side of the brown fox's chest, the multiple deep-looking (bleeding as well) cuts all over the dragon's body, as well as the wound on the female fox's lower right part of her stomach which i assume was done by some type of claw that dug deeply into her skin (all of the wounds which are still currently bleeding in the picture)
now i don't mean to anger you but i'd just like to know your reasoning behind all of this clearly so i can understand the picture you commissioned more
