This is from around 1997. By now you should realize that there's no rhyme or reason to what I upload, or when. I don't know why I feel compelled to upload stuff from my childhood. I suppose I want to show the roots of my current work.
I created Shadowcat when I was nine and I consider her my first "furry" character, as well as the first character to serve as an alter ego for myself. She was a heroic young cat with a lightning bolt symbol on her torso and the ability to shoot electricity from her tail. I think she also had some other abilities, like turning into the shadow form you see in this picture. She and her friends were inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog and the Freedom Fighters, as well as other cartoons and comics I happened to be consuming at the time.
So here we've got Shadowcat herself (normal and shadow forms), Rachel the rabbit, Flasher the fox, and Sheila the snow leopard, as well as several items: the Power Necklace, a magic ruby (inspired in NO way by chaos emeralds) and Flasher's magic ring. I love how I had NO idea that "Flasher" had any indecent meaning. I think he used his ring and headband to create blinding flashes of light to stun enemies. Or something.
Shadowcat made a cameo appearance in this large cast picture I did in high school: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/1279418/
