It was hopping around in my backyard and my dog was trying to eat it. I still have to figure out what to do with it, but it seems nearly ready to fly - though it can only hop around at this point (I tried to get it to fly, but it couldn't really do it)
I think it probably lives in one of my neighbor's palm trees....but they're really tall.... I don't see any nests.
FEMALE BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK is correct. Thank you all very much for helping. :)

Me too. The parents don't sound happy. I haven't really seen them (maybe only silhouettes) but they've been pretty talkative. The internet says they're song birds. But they should have more babies with them. They're supposed to have 2-5 at a time. And it takes about 2 weeks for them (after hatching) to leave the nest.
And your picture was so cute. X3

I believe her family is up in this one palm tree, so I'm not sure if she would be able to get up there or not.
In any case, I'm not planning on keeping her for long (and I don't want to keep her - I want her to be with her family - and she seems to be almost grown so it shouldn't be long. They're supposed to stay in the nest for about 2 weeks anyways, so she was probably about ready to leave the nest).
And yes. She's very cute. ^^
