Really huge graphic is a compilation of a batch of little individual monster pictures.
I've been contributing art to this upcoming game, "Blood & Treasure." Out of all the parts I worked on, I was the most stoked about doing Monster Manual pictures. The monsters are the real stars of D&D for me. There are about four illustrations that I didn't composite in here, but the guys who did make it in are (top to bottom, left to right roughly);
behir
horned devil
marilith
batfolk
centaur
mummy
kitsune
locathah
lammasu
wight
sahuagin
succubus
cockatrice
gnoll
nalfeshnee
ghaele
flail snail

When the Field Folio came out, it was pretty much the consensus in my circle that the Flail Snail was the exemplar of the category of "Monsters Conceived at 2 AM by A Group Of Giggling, Stoned Gamers".
"Dude. I got it. Flail ... Snail."
"FLAIL SNAIL!"
"hee hee hee. flail snail flail snail flail snail."
I saw those! They actually look pretty good, though I liked the guy on the left a bit more. Hunched over poses work with being monstery, 'cause they tend to give critters really butch shoulders - and mean that you have a more animal-like curve to the neck, so you don't need to work as hard on making that believable. That and the usual tip about if you make the head smaller proportionally, the body looks bigger, butcher and more monstrous.
Thanks!
I figured that the usual backstory is that the sahuagin won out over most people at sea, and the locathah have always had the weird mask/plate aesthetic to them - so I tried to make sure the locathah looked really prehistoric, whereas the sahuagin are sleek and vaguely salmonid styled.
