Zhayu was formed from the yin(darkness) of the world. His soul purpose is to keep the balance between light and darkness. Despite his good willed job, he's treated like a common demon because of his appearance. His third eye, the Divine Eye, allows him to read the aura of anything it glares at. It can also absorb chi(energy) from dying creatures to give Zhayu power. The first power creature Zhayu absorbed was Jiufeng, a nine headed phoenix(http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3331/3455621336_98c04f4007_b.jpg). Zhayu gained wings that glows with soothing azure flames when he flies.
