When I was at my grannys farm, I took a lot of reference pictures of the inside of her barn, I wanted to draw something that really captured how damn HUGE a barn seems, espescially if you're a little kid playing around in it. I dont really think I caputed it here.

i grew up rural, but not agricultural. many of our neighbors had 5 to 20 acres. most of them didn't actually farm on them. this was before the organic movement. in the civil rights era, when many of them thought hippy was a dirty word. i love old barns. like i say, we never had one ourselves. my dad and later myself dreamed of doing something like that. neither of us ever did. closest we ever came to it was a couple of little cabins a shop space and a barn-like garage, on a half acre, with so many easements it was more like a quarter acre we could actually do anything with.
Everything was HUGE when we were kids. I never had a barn, but there was a tool shed behind our house that our ship, submarine, spaceship or whatever our imagination wanted. We could get lost inside that place so big it was from out point of view. In adult measurements that thing couldn't be more than eight square feet.
