So, I finished this up. My Best Foxy Fluff
pira was teaching me some new coloring techniques, and I needed a picture to try them out on (I didn't want to try them out for the first time on a commission), so I grabbed one of my doodles and went to town. I guess it was mostly successful. I still wish I could paint properly and fully eliminate my linework from my finished works. But oh well.
Doodle shows some changes to Jensca's character design. Changing the cut of her undersuit to something like a one piece, shortening her hair (it used to go down to her mid-back), changing her circuitry markings out for some cybernetics. I think I may change things a bit more, as I'm feeling a bit like all the blue glowy bits on the cybernetics are still a bit gaudy, and I'd like it if her necklace had some purpose besides "glowy blue thing dangling from a chain." So that will probably get removed/changed next time I draw her. I also think I need to beef her up some more and work on her proportions - for a wolfgirl that's supposed to be 7+ feet tall and pretty well toned, she sure doesn't look it. I mean, six pack, sure, but she needs a bit more in her shoulders and arms.
Woof.

I usually work solely in values, starting with a medium grey and then using black and white to create shadows and highlights. Then overlaying the colors onto that. For this pic, I tries a different method of laying, and using some color in my shading and highlights (instead of working solely in values).
