Culverin-29 Class Destroyer

Main manned patrol/defensive unit deployed by the Ermin Migratory Fleet Security forces.

The ship is unique due to its size and lack of amenities, carrying only enough fuel and life support for 3 days of operation. Since the ship lacks storage, faster than light systems, crew quarters, and other "basic" systems, the entire hull of the vessel has been devoted to arms and armaments, resulting in a tiny, fast, and moderately well armed defensive ship that is capable of matching the firepower and armor of much larger, long range ships while exceeding their speed and maneuverability.

The Culverin is approximately 40 meters in length and has crew ranging from 10-15 depending on the assignment of the ship.

The ship is armed with five particle gun turrets for general engagement, two double mass driver rail gun turrets for heavier targets, one chin mounted heavy plasma gun for targeting enemy capital ships, two rocket pods, and two forward anti-capital torpedo tubes each with a magazine of four torpedoes. In addition the ship is armed with a very powerful tractor beam, allowing it to physically grapple with other ships and act as a tug boat in none emergency situations.

Like most Ermin ships, the Culverin possesses very strong molecular shields, allowing it to resist physical impact more effectively than types of shields. The ship's internal structure and armor is also designed to resist physical impacts, though the outermost layer of the hull is equipped with reflective armor. The main reason for the physical defenses is due to the frequent defensive patrols around Ermin civilian fleets which often frequent asteroid fields to collect valuable minerals.
