Which is strange, since the comic was created in France, I believe! It's about a short viking and his pudgy side-kick getting involved in many crazy, wacky adventures. You might know the design of Asterix if you saw him though, even if the comic isn't familiar...he's an iconic comic book character in the way that Scrooge McDuck, Tintin and the Smurfs are.
not really strange, france isn't on this side of the pond...
i only know his design because a friend from the UK showed me an image of it a few months back when we were trying to figure out a post someone had made of "well known comic characters by their colours" which was essentially just a vertical bar with colours of the character poised from top to bottom. the americans in our crew pegged most of them but were stuck on one that the UK friend immediately recognized as asterix and obelix.
