have you tried the silicon foam they make for paw pads?

Foam it X is way too hard for most applications i have.

I was lookin at that stuff! I didn't buy it because it only expands x4 and I wanted something for castable hind-paws. Now that you've brought it up again I'm definately going to buy some and experiment with it.
