They say:
My best friend in the world died.. Matthew was his name..
No i don't have any money.
I don't know if you take requests but would you do this for me?
(Yes, he died in real life.)
He was a red and white husky with blue eyes.(his fursona..) He's wearing a white tank top for men and it has a black dragon on the front of it. He had 2 piercings in his left ear. He had a army hat on that made his ears go to the side. He has jeans on that are a little baggy. He is looking suprised to see a squirrel sitting on his left shoulder.
I was wondering if you could do a drawing of him.. in the good days when he was alive. His whole body.
I hope you can do this.. It would mean a lot to me
The artist:
While I can apologize for the lost of your friend,. I do not take or do requests.
Their response: okay thank you anyways :(
The artist:
It is NOT cool you're going to artists using a pity story to gain/manipulate free art from people.
I know I'm not the only artist you've gone to.
Please consider this in the future.
their response:
I know your not the only artist i haven asked to draw me a picture of my old friend that is gone now. How can you criticize me for this? I am not lying. You better know how many people you have hurt with this message. I am sorry but this is unnacceptable.
I got all of this from a friend who found accounts of it from an artist. Names have been removed to protect the people. A friend showed me this an hour ago, and right after that she found this image. We both had a good laugh about it, but it is still sad that an artist was used.

Yep, I was one of many artists who got the same note, but with a different description of what they wanted...
"He was a red and white husky with blue eyes.(his fursona..) He doesnt have a shirt on but he has muscles not too many just normal working out muscles, and he has jeans on, he's laying on his belly with his arms crossed so he can lay on them and he has his eye open looking at a green butterfly that just landing on his nose he is laying right beside a maple tree in a valley."
As someone once said..
How is "Matthew" supposed to benefit from this? If he was terminally ill or had just been involved in an accident, it would make sense to do it for HIM, but for someone who only knew the guy? Also, what's with the descriptive requests of what they want? If I'd lost a friend, I would be happy with anything from anyone, but these descriptions seem equivalent to personal commissions that have nothing to do with loss or death at all.

That was my thought.

This one had a specific description of a scene as well.
It's all highly suspect.

That's what I thought, too. I could understand somebody pleading for a pic from _one_ artist if they didn't have money for a commission, but not a whole slew of them.
And honestly, let's think about this fandom for a moment. Probably half the people in it are artists of one skill level or another. This "Matthew" had a detailed fursona, but no artist friends whatsoever, who would be moved to do memorial artwork on their own? The person requesting it has no artist friends to ask either, but has to go around begging from relative strangers?

Hi. I live in a beat up, tiny little house with no mirrors. I can't leave because I am albino and the sun burns my skin. It's difficult but i manage day by day. The one thing that kills me tho is that I can't look at my ass in the mirror. Could you find it in yer heart to draw my ass so I can look at it? TYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY =DDDDDDDDDDDDD
i do agree that remembering someone is an important thing, but when it comes to involving someone independant of the death its just plain BS (and i dont mean of the collegic kind). i dont know if this 'matt' actually died or if this indivudual is pulling everyfurs leg or if someone is madcrushing after this 'matt' but i can tell you that i fursonally wouldnt put too much time into a piece 'upon request'. however... if they (in truth or lie) inspired you to draw something, then by all means draw it. weither you like it or not, you might have been douped but you have also been inspired. so with all that said, you do what you do because you are capable, willing, and like to do so; with that in mind, you drew this because you wanted to just like the mountain of doodles all over your desk.

When I saw this (without reading the comments) I thought this was a reference to Matthew Shepard.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard
He died October 12, 1998, because he was gay.

People who are claiming the death is a lie have zero proof to contribute except wild conspiracy theories and hearsay. If you don't like requests then you don't have to do them but don't go to other artists profiles and spew your filth over all over a tribute another artist decides to do, you have no right to spread pointlessdrama a nd tarnish the gesture shown here. Yes I'm speaking to you Asphyxiation.
