CO2 Shotgun Shell
As a break from the cheesecake and miscellaneous spooge, here's a concept I came up with a decade or so back.
This concept was inspired by the Wilde Home for Catgirls's Disciplinarian, who dispenses rock salt via his 12-gauge pump to drive off catboys who come sniffing about after hours, and had its genesis on FurryMUCK years before when my character toted a shotgun which fired marshmallow peep loads at low velocity.
Anyhow, the idea was to come up with a quiet way of delivering a load of said rock salt to catboy tuchas without waking the neighbors.
Basically, the shell is charged with a load of CO2 under pressure. When the valve is tapped by the 'primer' being struck, the gas floods into the chamber, driving the wad forward and expelling the load. The shell is reset after ejection via a vent in the side of the shell (which is sealed when the shell is in the breech of the gun).
Similar 'silent' shells using gunpowder have been made, but this one has the advantage of being easily reloaded and recharged...
Joel: So, what do you think, sirs?

Air guns and real guns are leaps and bounds apart.
Alot of air guns are also some alloy of something, not steel like real firearms. You have to oil, clean, and keep up a real gun alot more than an air gun.
I've my own small collection of rifles, shotguns, and a pistol, as well as 2 paintball guns.

Near as I can tell, the dozen or so match and other air rifles and pistols I've owned over the course of thirty years of shooting, as well as the ones I've encountered as the coach of the Drexel University Rifle Team have all had steel barrels, even the C02 powered ones... :D
