Saw the CSX Scale Test car sitting by itself as I was driving by the Ravenna, KY yard. Don't know why it's sitting here since Ravenna dosen't have a scale. Might be on it's way to or from Hazard or Corbin yard maybe.

Railroads have special train yards known as "hump yards" which were built to quickly sort cars from trains into other trains heading to different destinations. It basically involves shoving a line of cars over a hill at one end of the yard where they're uncoupled and allowed to roll down hill and are switched into different sorting tracks depending on what train they need to become a part of next.
Cars that have special equipment that can be damaged by shock are clearly posted "do not hump" so they are not sent through these yards and damaged by the rough handling which sometimes occurs in a hump yard.
