I do a lot of viking re-enactment and often have worn hussar with my kit in furmeets hence hussar now a viking/saxon wolf

Toki leaf-eater warrior of the mercenary warband Hwicce

I know not a name to be feared (yet) but he came from a farming settlement 'Village of two rivers' in Dane-law (Viking control area of England) bordering close to two Saxon kingdoms.

Toki is a poor wolf farmer who's family settle in Dane-law after the Viking invasion, came from a line of warriors but who's family fallen on hard times since his father had been slain fighting Saxons and now serves under a greedy thane who rules the immediate lands.

Despite the rich fields surrounding the village, the settlement suffers from impoverishment due to its close proximity to the borders of neibouring Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and Essex which results in raids. Because of this, ongoing dispute of land the local Jarl had brought in paid mercenaries to bolster the local defences in preparation for an attack of his own in the continuing lust for plunder and riches that the fat vulnerable Saxon kingdoms so clearly flaunted.

One such warband Hwicce had settled for the harvest and winter season in Toki's ‘Two rivers’, drawn by the prominence of such mighty and feared norsemen Toki naturally found himself watching them train wishing sorely to join them in search for fame and fortune.

But it wasn’t until harvest season ended untroubled by invasion that he got his chance when they held a public display to all villagers in the celebrations of a good harvest of their prowess and skills in weapons and bravery. Already inflamed with enfusiasm, he watched as the group formed a shield wall and challenged any to break through it, eyeing the line it felt like a daunting task seeing many of the men-folk in their ego’s and testosterone attempt and fail much to the laughter of wife-men and girls. When it came to his turn, Randle considered the fact he wasn’t as strong nor as tough like most but his sharp calculated attention to the situation proved more useful targeting the smallest warrior and weak spot as he charged. Tensing his body it came to a surprise as the line broke under his force and fell face first into the mud. Roaring with laughter, the bear, hadgrid he found out later picked him up and congratulated him offering him a opportunity to be trained he couldn’t refuse.

He's named leaf-eater, in part in humour by the other war band members referring to him eating greenery rather than meat joking that he is the only vegetarian wolf they have ever come across, (maybe i should have made a stag Viking. XD) He’s does eat meat, but it’s the fact he’s too poor to afford eating meat, the animals he tend to are more worth alive, hence his habit as a low ranking to wolf to feast on alternative food though whenever he does get the chance to eat meat he will very willingly scoff it down at a moment’s chance.

Writing this now, he’s already seen a year of action and i ought to write down a small mini-saga about his adventures and experiences.
