My entry for the written category of  Hopeful_Monster_Studios's wyrm contest. HMS created these little wyrms and  aerofox- nabbed Quandr'y for me at Anthrocon!

The summer sun dazzled the young vixwuff, causing her to blink in the brilliance of it. She shielded her eyes and continued deeper into the forest, anticipating the temperature drop as the tree cover took over.

Ahead of her a branch snapped. "How much farther is it, Aero?" 'Fixxies could barely see the white tipped tail as it bobbed away through the underbrush. The older fox's much longer legs afforded him an easier time over the fallen trees and boulders that dotted their path.

"Not long now, I can't wait to show you!" Aerofox waited a bit for 'Fixxies to catch up before hopping over a few more branches and leading her into a dark cool cave. Something glittered up ahead of them catching what light filtered in from the cave mouth.

Kitfixxies walked over to the unknown shiny, but not before Aerofox scooped it up and closed his paws around it. "What is that? It looks like..."

"An egg!" Aerofox whispered excitedly, holding his paws out toward 'Fixxies. She caught just a glint of swirling teals and whites before the red fox bounded away from her out of the cave.

"Hey! Wait up!" Kitfixxies scrambled after him, hoping he hadn't gotten far. She needn't have worried because she ran right into him as she exited the cave. "Whew! I thought you had run off!"

Aero smiled and shook his head, "Nah. Here! This is for you. I haven't looked at it in the light yet, but I knew as soon as I saw it in the cave it was meant for you."

Kit took the egg as he handed it to her, "For me? But how?" The dazzling swirls of teal and white were interspersed with flecks of black, reminding them both of a stormy sea. There was very little time to admire the beauty of the delicate egg for the moment it touched the vixwuff's paws it began to shiver and a thin crack ran through the shell.

'Fixxies cupped her hands together making sure that the creature inside the egg wouldn't fall as it struggled out of it's little egg. "Look! A tail!" Fixxies squealed excitedly as black fluff emerged. She had only ever read about wyrms but she knew as soon as the last bit of shell fell away that is what Aero had found.

Small but sturdy, the wyrm looked up into his new friend's face, one black eye and one blue eye glittering up at her in a warm smile. A bright jewel framed by a swirl was centered in the little guy's forehead and two lovely white spiral horns trailed back into his gorgeous black fluff.

"He's beautiful, Aero!" Kitfixxies clupped the little wyrm to her cheek and it gave her several happy nuzzles. "What to call you, though, there's a quandary." At this the wyrm got excited and wriggled around in her paws, "What? Quandary?" Again nuzzles and emphatic nodding from the small black wyrm.

"I think he's got his name," Aero laughed and gently stroked between Quandr'ys horns. 'Fixxies offered her shoulder to her new wyrmy friend and Quandr'y accepted willingly, settling in for the journey to his new home and new adventures with Kitfixxies.
