I’ve noticed that when I stop drawing for an extended period of time, when I start again, I always draw with only pens.

I finally understood why the other day.

I’m subconsciously forcing myself to get used to my mistakes. I know I’m going to make mistakes and I’m forcing myself to accept them. If I were to start drawing in pencil, I’d erase the first line I drew, try again, erase, try again, erase and eventually just give up. With pen, though, I don’t have that option. I can’t just erase that line I just drew and I have to force myself to keep working past that. I end up with some pretty cool things, too. Like my chess piece up there.
