Oh sweetie silicone will not cure onto air dry clay. If you try to cast that you will end up with an amazing mess! The silicone will actually melt the clay too and ruin your sculpt. Sorry to bust your bubble but at least you didn't find out the hard way.
You need to buy -oil based sulfur free clay-
http://www.amazon.com/Van-Aken-Plastalina-Modeling-Clay/dp/B002YECZP8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1341619752&sr=8-6&keywords=van+aken+clay
You can find it at local craft stores too

Hmmm, maybe? Any residue of that clay touches the silicone it will ruin the cure. Considering a resin cast kit is 60 bucks it's not really worth the chance.
To be honest before I cast sprinkles I practiced a lot at sculpting first. Also, you need to make sure you are casting on something that is the same size and shape as your head, as well as correct eye placement for good vision. My first headform was a lifecast of my head made from plaster bandages and plaster of paris.
