Was out on the site this week and was very surprised to find this little guy sitting in the corner of one of the buildings.

...*sniffle*
When I was a teenager I saw something like that, out in my brandfather's hay meadow while I was cutting it.
I thought it was unusual he'd be just laying out there on the new-mown hay, then I got out and got a closer look. He/she then revealed, they'd been there when I First went over that patch with the mower. A chip off their jaw, a chop off the forleg.. and the mangling of their hindlimbs and tear of the body so I could SEE the internal organs through their hidnquarters.
There was nothing for it, but I didn't know what to do... so.. I.. I wrapped my hands around it's neck and squeezed.. and squeezed.. and squeezed until it just stopped twitching.
When I marched across 80 acres of land back to the house to explain why I just could NOT do any more work that day, granpa just said, "Well why did you haff tu quit 'cuz of that?" And drove me back out there to watch him toss the fawn's corpse into the river. I still refused to do any more work that day, I just couldn't.

About ten years later he had me help him load a deer he'd bagged out on his lower fourty. The deer was hit on it's jaw and upper shoulders, and kicked and squirmed the whole way into the back of the truck. He'd tried to slit it's throat but only succeeded in giving it a tracheotomy.
After that I collected his 'huntin' rifle' and the ammo for it. When they turned up missing he turned up to ask me about it. I admitted I had taken them and he gave me the full force of his 'Ol Granpaw Ness'. I almost broke-down crying right there, but stood my ground and told him I had his rifle, I had his ammo, and would not give them up because I did not feel he was competent to hunt. Then it was that He almost looked like he was about to bawl and was just barely holding it in, but I stood my ground and we've been kind of at that impass ever since.
