Goldfur recently posted several pictures by
Sethtriggs of buildings and vehicles of the Chakat homeworld of Chakona. This got me thinking furgonomically, just how would chakats fit into their cars. While I haven't drawn up any chakat vehicles yet I have done some sketches of a restraint system that should work for cars, busses, trains, light planes and helicopters. Probably just for the driver. The emphasis of the system is to keep the person in place while prevent spinal injury between the upper and lower torso in an accident. I intentionally left out a laying pad to save weight and vertical space. Figured the floor boards would just have nice thick carpering. Also made a sheath trough so things don't get too crushed on long trips. Might want to add a removable liner to this.Haven't done much work on the driving controls but figure the hands on hir fore-paws should be put into play.
No hir tail is not cut off, just wrapped around the other side of hir body.

Yes, the same pictures let me thing about the same thing with a similar solution. Although, I was thinking about a more unflexible solution for the lower back. It would basicly be an exxtension the the one on the upper back and connected to something connected to the floor.
Sot the taur could not slip back and his/her/hir complete spine would be protected by something like a 'reversed padded seat.
Not a critique, just a slightly different design.
We really could use an institution that makes test dummies for this kind of stuff, so we could see what would work best.
That sheath through is a good idead. The last time I saw something similar was in Mike Kazalh's comic 'The Suit', though that was for the tub, so that an anthro would not sit on his tail in the tub.

Feel free to build a test center any time you like. Shouldn't take more than $20-50 million to get a minimalist operation up and running. Of course you will need someone to bioengineer a few chakats first, just so you have something to calibrate your test dummies against.
