A german shepherd for hospital work! She'll have hands soon, too!
I like this one much better than the last gshep I did, since I started with white and airbrushed all the colour on there. Last one I made the muzzle in black fur and airbrushed around it, and it looked a little awkward. Next time I think I'll start with a tan fur and airbrush shading and black onto the main colour, because colouring down to the backing was time consuming and I probably didn't get it all. That aside, this head is bombastic.
I was told to make it 'realistic but approachable', since it's for work with children. I hope it came out that way! Oh and the last photo is just some weirdo, ignore them. (Yes, my work area is a mess GET OVER IT CLEANING IS FOR DUMB BUTTS)

Dobermans are kinda a popular guard dog, but I haven't really seen them in use as a tactical dogs cause they're eyes and nose aren't as good as some. I have seen smaller dogs used for drug and bomb detection like dachshunds and corgis cause they are lower/can get around stuff. Labs are a commonly used seeing eye dog breed cause of their nearly endless walking ability and keen eyesight. Labs are also used as enforcement and detection dogs cause of their loyalty and noses. Dalmations are more mascots for Firefighters, since... well, dogs in fires is not a super awesome idea lol. I really can't think of any other *service* dog.

What kind of ink/paint do you recommend for airbrushing fur? I tried an acrylic one and a different type of ink (idr the base) and neither of them where to my liking. Also, I love the texture of the fur you use! Do you shave longer fur down to get that? And I apologize for all the questions.. I'm working on my first head ever and figuring out what to improve for nest time
