*Sorry in advance if my "faux news" writing is less than stellar*
I've been entertaining the idea that one of my somewhat old characters, Mela D., would have a pretty "out there" back story. You've got characters born from "traditional" ways, some built, others created through science, but has there ever been one born from the magic of music? Probably so, but still, I thought it'd be a neat background for Mela in the Directional Influence project.
What other little tidbits can I share?
Two-Step is one of the biggest Music, Fashion, and general entertainment based cities (excluding movies) in the world of DI. Many musicians, chefs, actors, and fashionistas go there to attend art college and/or to become recognized. Two-Step also has a radio station that's so popular, it has a tower so tall and powerful, it can broadcast world-wide without the use of satelites or internet (fictional technology can work like that, right?). It is also supposed to be a main location in another of my series called "The Ballad of Adi O." A lot what would go on in DI is planned to have alternate/parallel similarity in BoAO.
For example, in DI, Dompano and Leviathan would be boyfriend/girlfriend who ran a band called "DompLai", and are parents/guardians to Mela D. In BoAO, they'd be human neighbors (just friends), who both simply went to an art college. Dompano would also be the owner of a feral version of Mela D. and Leviathan would have his own pet, who, in DI, is best friends to Mela.
As confusing as it might be, there's still more to it. And more will come as it gets written up. V:

Glad to see someone actually spotted that. :b
And I'd say Two-Step is definitely a 21st century city. As for what's "in", that could vary from week to week. Sometimes Retro Chic. Sometimes wannabe futuristic. But there's always a little something for everybody in Two-Step.
