An A-1 Skyraider, nicknamed by pilots as 'The Spad', pulls up sharply after making a simulated attack run. This was part of a re-enactment of a Vietnam War rescue mission of a downed A-4 Skyhawk pilot.

Thanks! That verse, at least, does seem to suit the Skyraider. The whole song may as well, I can't find the lyrics, but from the sounds of it, is it about the plane? The Skyraider is also called 'Sandy', I know that.

Yup, it was in a group of songs from Vietnam, this subset also included a song about other aircraft, including the much-derided Thud.

Can't say I blame them. Even for a prop machine apparently past it's time, that aircraft still kicked fanny as well as any jet could!
